Moving a domain to another provider
- Log in to portal.ozhosting.com and go to Domains > My Domains.
- Open the domain and check its expiry date. A domain close to expiry, or already expired, may need renewing before it can move.
- Under Management Tools, turn off Registrar Lock if it's on (.au domains don't use a lock).
- Choose Get EPP Code. The transfer code (also called an auth code or domain password) is shown or emailed to the registrant contact.
- Give the code to your new provider and start the transfer there.
If you can't see the code, or the registrant email address is out of date, raise a ticket with the domain name and we'll send it to the right contact.
.au domains: the domain must still meet auDA eligibility rules, and the ABN or ACN must be active. If it isn't, fix that first. See Emails about your .au domain.
Before the transfer: check where your website and email are hosted. If they're with us, moving the domain doesn't move them, and changing nameservers can take them offline.
You've had an email asking you to approve a transfer
- You started it (moving a domain to us or away): follow the link in the email and approve it. Unapproved transfers lapse after a few days.
- You didn't ask for it: don't approve it. Call us on 1300 467 843 (option 1) straight away. Someone may be trying to take the domain.
These emails may come from Domain Services, the registry service we use.
